No, the Jamahook plugin and the matching experience is completely free. However, you do need to buy a subscription in order to legally own and drag out full-quality sounds from the plugin directly.
While most of the plugin’s features are completely free, there are advantages to registering a free account such as adding favourites and getting access to your matching history.
Currently, the plugin is available as a VST- and AU-plugin for all compatible digital audio workstations (DAW). An AAX version for the ProTools (AVID) plugin format is planned for 2023.
Jamahook uses a unique algorithm, developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, to understand the acoustic and psychoacoustic qualities of whatever it hears – the tempo, harmonic makeup, groove, rhythm, feeling, mood, genre, instrument, and more.
Jamahook’s AI generates a unique musical “signature” whenever a sound is analyzed. It is then used to find matches from other loops in the Jamahook library by comparing with their signatures. The AI’s deep neural networks connect and organize all this musical data in a data-efficient way to facilitate the melodic and rhythmic matching. The overall ecosystem allows Jamahook to not only find suitable matches, but rank them in terms of “match proximity” to ensure that you are provided with the best loops at the top of the list.
Jamahook provides 3 monthly plans, each giving you a different number of loops per month. The plugin and matching experience is free – you just pay for the loops you use. An annual plan is also available with a 50% discount, with more annual offers to come in the future!

All user sounds that are analyzed and used in matching are deleted as soon as the matching process is completed and your matches are served.

Yes, you can choose to cancel your subscription at any time. However, please note that you will not be able to use your remaining points to purchase loops if you do not have an active subscription. All free features will remain accessible to you.
The Jamahook plugin should be available in your DAW once the installation has been completed.
For optimum results, the plugin should be placed on your Master track so that it can listen to the entire output. Move your trackbar to the beginning of the section you want to match with. Press the Match button and hit play on you DAW. It will listen to 4 or 8 bars (selectable via Settings) and automatically start analyzing the sounds to find matches. Within seconds, you will be provided with a ranked shortlist of loops that are complementary to your project. All matches will be adjusted to your project’s BPM and Key for easy auditioning. You can simply hit play or drag the matches out and drop them into your tracks to see how they fit.
